Life Update #2: Summer Plans, Mental Health and More

Oh hey there! It’s been a week since my last post and it feels like forever. I’m back today though, and thought a life update was suitable as it’s been fairly quiet over here.

Am I Moving?

My contract for my university flat started on the 1st of July, so my plan was to move most of my things into my flat and spend July there, go home in August and then return in September for the start of the academic year.

Before going up to Leeds, I started to get anxious about being away from home for a prolonged period of time, especially as I still haven’t had my follow up consultant appointment and discussed long-term Crohn’s plans. What’s more, all my doctors etc. are based in Leicester, so for now, it’s more reassuring to be at home. I also moving and packing very stressful!

All this stress caused my Crohn’s to flare up, so I’ve been having to take painkillers on and off for the past few days. 

I still wanted to go up to Leeds though as my flatmate and I had planned a day trip to London on Saturday. 

We had such a lovely day. My flatmate surprised me with tickets to see Wicked as an early 21st present and it was so much fun. We also explored more of London including going to Peggy Porschen, Harrods, Belgravia and Covent Garden.

In the end, I decided it was best for my mental health to view this as a good weekend away with purpose. I still moved stuff into my flat like kitchen equipment and bedding which are the bigger items that take up space in the car.

I’m planning on going up to Leeds for a couple of nights here and there over the summer just to get used to it again, and then go back properly in September for the start of term.

I’ve realised that I have a habit of making quick decisions and need to be more realistic about my anxiety. I loved the idea of spending time in Leeds away from home, but given the current circumstances, I had to realise that it wasn’t right for me.

Holiday Plans – My Family Bought a Motorcaravan!

On a lighter note, we bought a motorcaravan! My family used to have one, but we sold it when my brother and I got too big for it.

My parents really wanted to get another one though, so they took the leap and got one!

It sleeps 3, so I can still make use of it. We are off to Cornwall at the weekend for a much-needed week-long break and are planning to have another week in August up in the Lake District. 

Having the van is making me very nostalgic and feel like a kid again. I love it!

And the blog?

Everything as normal here on the blog. I am switching hosting companies from Siteground to Lyrical Host, so my blog might be down for a little bit on Thursday evening during the change. 

While Siteground was great for the first year of being self-hosted, let’s just say I know what people mean about Siteground increasing their prices after the first year. The increase was ridiculous! I’d heard so many great things about Lyrical Host and so far so good!

I also decided to stop my newsletter as it was another decision I made rather quickly. With everything that’s going on at the moment, I realised it wasn’t the right time to pursue it.
