How to Be a Student and a Blogger
Hello again! I have decided that I quite like writing ‘how to’ posts, so here is another one, and what better subject matter to focus on than being a student and a blogger.
Even just being back at university for a few days, I have barely had time to blog, yet alone keep up-to-date with social media. The space in my timetable from French reading week has been filled with house hunting for next year, so it is time to get my act together and work out how to be a student and a blogger. I have been thinking long and hard, and have come up with a few ideas to help me and you:
- Although I do not have too many contact hours, I do have A LOT of independent work. Time management is going to be important here. I plan on doing as much university work as possible during the week, and devoting as much of the weekend as possible to blogging. Being productive in the week will also allow for more relaxation time on the weekend too, so you get the best of both worlds!

- Scheduling! When it comes scheduling blog posts or tweets etc. I feel like my mind is is in two parts. One side is being sensible and encouraging me to do it because deep down I know that it will save a lot more time. The other side is a bit lazy and has the attitude of ‘post what you want when you want’! I seriously need to start listening to the sensible side.ย If working on an assignment means you miss a day of blogging, don’t feel like it’s going to destroy your blog.ย ย When it gets to stressful times such as exams, I would advise making your own timetable. You can add blogging into the mix as well as studying, and clearly see what you need to do and when.

- Reduce content per week. Surely it is better to have one kick-ass post a week than several rushed ones. I have come to realise that with blogging, popularity does not come from posting on your blog 24/7. Yes, it’s good to show your presence on social media on a daily basis, but at the end of the day, the social media support comes from quality and engaging content.
I could go on, but I think doing things in small steps is the best way to go.
Hopefully, you will find these thoughts helpful.

Best post at the best time, and I completely agree with your last point and that has always been my thing, I don’t try to upload post after post instead I take time to connect with other bloggers here. And honestly I’m loving it like this ๐ xo
Yeah I really need to do that I might do one post and one video a week but up my connecting
Yeah you should try that, I feel for me this blog is something I enjoy and I do not want to make it seem like a ‘I have to do this’ kind of thing.
Quite true
Being a blogger and a student at the same time is very difficult, for sure! I schedule all my posts and upload only once a week, unless I’ve got nothing to do which is when I post 2-3 times a week. I also spend my Friday doing blog stuff and also Sunday morning, which has helped me to have a kind of rutine haha However, I still struggle with it, especially when I have exams or papers to write… Nice post though x

Ah thank you
This a great post. All of these things work when you’re in a full time job too. It can be really difficult to find time for blogging but I’ve found planning ahead really works!

Glad I’m not the only one
I really loved this post! The student/blogger balance is difficult and especially now i’m looking for graduate jobs! I always reward myself with blogging time so like i’d read one thing on the reading list for a class then spend 20 minutes on a blog post ๐ great post!
That’s a good idea x
I just recently set up a schedule for my blog due to my amount of uni work and it helped me manage my time on my blog soooo much better! Great post ๐
That’s good to hear! X
