Valentine’s Day Ideas for Single People
Ah Valentine’s Day. The festival that you either love or hate. If you’re in a relationship, it’s one of the best days of the year, but if not, the day serves as a reminder that you are single, especially when you go to the shops and see the rows of chocolates, teddy bears and greeting cards covered in hearts. It’s hard not to feel low when you’re single and it’s Valentine’s Day.
However, instead of letting Valentine’s cause a dark cloud above your head, embrace the positives of single life and celebrate you on Valentine’s Day. Here’s a few ideas of what I mean by this.
Self-care
Whether you’re in a relationship or not, looking after yourself is a priority. Use Valentine’s Day to treat yourself. Spa day, Netflix and chill, whatever takes your fancy. Enjoy the freedom of single life and make the most of the chance to put yourself first.
Personally, I love having a film night. Whether it’s a new release or an old favourite, on a wintery February evening, a movie, box of Maltesers and a cup of tea are a good way to go.
Spend time with friends and family
Whilst Valentine’s Day is associated with romantic love, why not celebrate love in all forms? Spend time with your family and friends and cherish every opportunity you get to spend with them.
If you have a group of single friends, have a get together and embrace relationship-free lives. Host a dinner party or going out for drinks are just a couple of ideas.
It’s just one day
Although the commercial side of Valentine’s Day starts ridiculously early, like Christmas or any other festival, the main event is only one day. It goes by in the blink of an eye. Before you know where you are, everything will be back to normal. If you’re struggling on Valentine’s Day, just remember that it doesn’t last long.

Oooh these are really good points! It’s very commercial anyway – love exists on all days. plus it doesn’t have to be spent with a boy/girl – it can be about love for family and friends.

A movie night is a great idea for singles on Valentine’s; I think I might do that this year! It’ll probably end up being a rom-com or something though haha. I love that you mentioned that Valentine’s can also be used to celebrate other kinds of love, not just the romantic type. As I inferred in my post, Valentine’s Day came to be a day that all love was celebrated–not exclusively romantic love! This was an excellent Day 4 for the Countdown xx

Yeah I’m single and definitely it’s only one small day! I personally don’t find it that big of a deal because it just goes by so fast.
